Khali and his Wife

The Great Khali's real name is Dalip Singh Rana, also sometimes said as Dileep or Daleep Singh Rana. Dalip Singh grew up in a very poor family but today he is a rich person. His physical structure is one to behold as he stands up at a gigantic Seven Feet Three Inches, which is his real height. He also weighs nearly Four Hundred pounds.Dalip Singh is originally from the Dhirana Village of Himachal Pradesh, this place is a very beautiful area surrounded by mountains and it is one of the most beautiful hill stations of India. Dalip Singh is a Rajput Hindu by religion, contradicting to the popular belief of him being a Sikh.

Dalip Singh is a strong believer in God and loves to take part in Religious Ceremonies, he is also the follower of a Religious Preacher Ashutosh Maharaj and frequently visits him for his blessings. Dalip might look like a Frankenstein-like Monster figure but in reality he is a very soft spoken Gentleman who is generally regarded as very fan-friendly. Whenever he goes out for a walk, people gather to take his autograph, but he never denies anyone and patiently gives them autographs and photographs. Dalip Singh also is a simpleton and never brags about his stature.

Being against Ethnic violence is one of the things Dalip Singh Rana strongly believes in and never ever takes disadvantage of his monstrous figure in real life. Whenever he is in his home town at Jalandhar, he regularly visits various Gyms in the city and motivates the youth there to excel in life.

Dalip Singh is a very kind hearted person, although people stereotype him to be a mean, reckless monster because thats the character he plays in his Wrestling persona, but that is just entertainment like one sees in films! Dalip Singh is a really kind guy in real life. At the Dhirana village in which he lived, he has seen poverty, therefore he regularly visits the village and helps poor people by giving them and their family financial grants, Dalip has also made various Public Places for the people of his village as well as Hospitals and Schools, where all facilities are free. Dalip Singh also loves kids.

Dalip Singh likes to drive cars and wishes he could drive all kinds of them! But unfortunately for him he cannot fit into the Driver's seat of the majority of cars due to his huge structure. He is married to a Punjabi woman Harminder Kaur, the marriage took place with Hindu rituals. Mrs. Khali is not very tall though.

Apart from being a WWE wrestler Dalip Singh is a Hollywood actor as well, details of which can be found in the Showbiz and Khali page. Dalip Singh currently lives in a Bungalow at Jalandhar which is located in the Punjab state of India.

Dalip Singh's knowledge of English has always been thought about people as something non-existant, but this is not true. When Dalip Singh first came to the USA however he didn't knew English, but right now he does speak little English from time to time and can understand it very well. On a show of WWE RAW! as The Great Khali, he was also shown speaking to Jonathan Coachman in English when he said "I want some competition".

As far as his job is concerned, Dalip Singh is currently working for the WWE in USA, but he is not a USA resident, he is the resident of India, and in India he currently has a job as a Sub-Inspector in Punjab Police and is appointed at Jalandhar. He was once sacked from the job accidently but this was reversed in a matter of a few hours.

Dalip Singh has no children but his family nevertheless is very big and they are all proud of Khali. The same way as each and every Indian today is proud of Dalip Singh. He is also the first wrestler from India ever to get into the WWE, before him Tiger Ali Singh also got signed up, but Tiger Ali Singh was a Canadian and not an Indian resident, although he was very patriotic.

Dalip Singh's in-ring name "The Great Khali" is sometimes mistook by people as "The Great Khaali", with Khaali meaning empty, but this is wrong, This name "The Great Khali" was taken from the Indian Goddess of Power, Kaali. Since the Americans cannot pronounce Kaali easily it was changed from Kaali to Khali, still the pronunciation should be "Kh-ali" and not "Khaa-li".
